I had association with these four people at REC in some form and have roots in and around the city of Mangalore.I learnt to speak the Tulu language to some level of fluency thanks to them.
Prakash Shetty was my super-senior at REC and is Bombay based. I don't have a profound association with him and never spoken to him but used to be involved in parleys and discussions during very initial years at REC.I came to know he is the President of the Alumni association. He could be seen in Electrical labs many times as he studied Electrical Engineering.
I knew Shailesh Shetty very well and by and large used to be a very well behaved gentleman so to speak, very polite friendly and measured and also intellectual in nature. I used to run into him on several occasions in Bangalore much later in some office of TATA Motors where I think he put a long stint.
Srinath Shetty used to be my batch mate and we stayed for one year in B315 room. He is from a place called Shirva near Mangalore. I met Srinath for the first time in the B hostel premises. He used to play cricket well and used to be an obedient and polite person. He used to meet me every time he was going on vacation in which ever Hostel I was living at the instant. I came to know he taught Civil Engineering at NITTE for many years.
Vinod Shetty was my junior and used to be from Bombay and used to talk to me always in Tulu..a six footer and used to be helpful to others.I used to see him in the Basket Ball court at times. I think he studied Mechanical Engineering.
All these people helped me in some form or other and just thought of making my appreciation for them.
