The town of Kasargod is situated in the northern tip of Kerala but close to the city of Mangalore in the state of Karnataka. The travel time between Mangalore and Kasargod must be some one hour duration.
Kasargod is a cosy town with a moderately large KSRTC bus stand with temples and streets abound. Kannada and Malayalam are languages largely spoken here.
The city of Kanjanghad must be some thirty kilometers from here and on the way comes the Bakel fort.Almost every half an hour there is a bus from Kasargod to Mangalore.
The travel time from Bangalore by road is eight hours; the bus traversing through Mysore, Madikeri, Mulleria and Kasargod.
Something about the Bekal fort. This fort is some thousand years old changing hands from various rulers from time to time.It is a must-see.It stands on some 40 acres of land and a lower component which is adjacent to the sea. There are many water sources made in the yore inside this complex and also watch towers and armoury and the entire complex is sea facing. The fort is some fifteen kilometers from Kasargod and also the same distance from Kanjanghad meaning that it can be reached from both these places.
